Children of Namyang
The Nam Ha National Park in Northern Laos, covers over 2000 square kilometres of dense forest and is home to many ethnic minorities. 16km from the western edge of this conservation area, sits the Akha village of Namyang.

I arrived with my guide at the village at midday, after a 3 hour bike ride along dirt roads out of Luang Namtha. By this point, most of the working aged villagers had already left for the fields, leaving only the children and grandparents. Namyang is home to around 700 people and was founded by the Ahka ethnic group who migrated from Yunnan, China in the early 20th century.
